Tractors and Limos

Hope everyones weekend was Happy, Healthy and Fun:)

This afternoon as I was waiting to pull onto Sound Avenue I saw a sight that I have seen far to many times here on the North Fork...and today Im going to chat about it.

Its hay bailing time so families like the Kujawskis and other local farmers are out on the roads with their tractors. I currently work right on Sound Avenue so I enjoy watching the tractors with wagons full of things go by. Its hay season now, soon it will be pumpkins and other harvest produce.

Time and time again I see the farmers doing their work, being respectful of the road and driving as far to the right as they can. The issue is drivers who can't pass right away getting annoyed, impatient and sometimes down right rude.

Visitors to the North Fork need to remember the farmers were here first. Farmers built the North Fork. If it weren't for these remarkable, hard working people, the North Fork wouldn't be the the country place it is.... thats why most people come to visit us. Even the vineyard owners are FARMERS. Many come out for the vineyards as well as the "Grown On Long Island" produce:)

So, instead of yelling at the people who have created this wonderful landscape. The people who have made the concept of "Agri-tourism" an enjoyable reality.....Simply smile or wave, even a friendly nod of the head would be nice as you drive by:)

Must complete todays blog with a personal story that makes me smile regarding tractors. It took place last fall during the busiest part of the season. A beautiful, warm Saturday morning as I was out cutting Rosemary......I saw it....

It was a John Deer tractor with a wagon load of pumpkins driving past, a white Hummer limo passing it with a red Lamborghini behind it:)

Now that my friends... is North Fork:)
